Spectra Light Festival
Spectra is a well established and vibrant Light festival that takes over the city of Aberdeen every year attracting in excess of 90,000 curious and engaged visitors each year.
For last years event I was invited to create a series of site-specific works around the city to form a high-profile Light Installation at the cities prestigious Marischal College.
Aberdeen is such a fascinating city so it was vital that I chose sites of historical and cultural significance to the people and of course scouring the lesser walked paths to unearth some hidden or forgotten gems.
My site-specific work is very much focused on celebrating our built environment with my light forms acting as temporary light sculptures, I also seek to encourage the audience to re-consider ‘the everyday’ places that hide in plain sight.
The near artic temperatures and plentiful rain was eclipsed by the extremely warm welcome from the city: The help of some amazing local guides, the local press (front page news!) and the 90,000+ art loving people of the city made this an unforgettable experience.
